Suspension and Expulsion Data for the Last 3 School Years
Suspensions • Decrease in suspensions last two years compared to 04-05 • Increase in offenses related to controlled substances/alcohol • Decrease in acts of hate violence
Expulsions • Decrease in number of students expelled under the District’s 2 /3 • Fight Rule • Decrease in number of students expelled for weapons, drugs and alcohol
Using the Data • The data will be shared with District • Equity Team and used in developing District Equity Action Plans • District administration is providing support and direction for site goals and action plans • Site principals have analyzed the data and are developing action plans to reduce suspension and expulsion numbers
Principals’ Goals • Reduce suspensions • Reduce expulsions • Focus on over-represented groups • Principals’ Action Plans • Provide comprehensive supervision on campus and at school activities • Early identification and intervention • Focus on the classroom: “Every Student by Name and Need” • Participate in Site Equity Team training and engage staff in Courageous Conversations

Educational Services During Expulsion Process Students recommended for expulsion are provided ongoing educational services through home instruction or independent study pending the final disposition
