  2. Introduction • The following presentation contains migration data for the State of Kansas and metropolitan areas. It is based on data from the Census Bureaus American Community Survey (ACS) 2005-2009 estimates. • A flow pair consists of the county of current residence at the time the ACS was conducted and the county of residence 1 year earlier. The flow pairs and movers in the ACS 5-year estimates are not the summation of five years of data, they are estimates of a yearly average from 2005-2009. • The number of flow pairs indicates how diverse the movement into or out of an area is, while the number of movers shows the magnitude of those flows.
