Member Benefits • Meet interesting, involved professionals who seek to help women reach their potential • Work together towards common goals, i.e. Objectives of Zonta • Socialize and network locally, nationally, and internationally • Accept leadership roles that promote personal growth and self-confidence in a friendly supportive atmosphere • Participate actively in committees, meetings and interesting discussions Enhancing the Lives of Women
Member Responsibilities • Attend club and relevant committee meetings • Pay all dues, fees and assessments promptly • Be familiar with club bylaws and parliamentary procedures • Participate actively in meetings and deliberations and accept majority decisions • Accept leadership roles and give time, talent and enthusiasm to the organization • Identify and suggest prospective new members • Attend area meetings/workshops, district conferences and international conventions, if possible • Support the programs of the Zonta International Foundation Enhancing the Lives of Women

ZONTA CLUB OF ____________________ Zonta International Organizational Structure
Zonta International • Founded 1919 in Buffalo, New York • Today there are approximately 28,400 members in 1123 clubs in more than 65 countries • The Zonta International Board: • Directs the affairs of Zonta International • Consists of four elected officers, who constitutes the executive committee, and seven elected directors • Elected at the biennial international conventions • Four elected officers are: • President • President-Elect • Vice president • Treasurer/Secretary Enhancing the Lives of Women
Zonta International • Districts: • For administrative purposes, Zonta International divides the world into districts • Each district is supervised by an elected governor and elected district board • The elected officers of the district are: • Governor • Lieutenant Governor • Area Directors • Treasurer • Secretary (appointed by the governor and has no vote) • Areas: • Districts are divided into areas • Clubs: • The basic organizational unit of Zonta International Enhancing the Lives of Women

Zonta International Foundation • Founded in 1984 • Administers the service programs and projects of Zonta International • Receives, raises and invests funds for the service programs of Zonta International • Foundation monies are for the main part donated by Zonta Clubs and individual members • Recommended that each Zonta Club give 1/3 of service funds raised to the Foundation Enhancing the Lives of Women
Robert’s Rules of Order • Parliamentary procedures form a consistent set of rules that govern voting assemblies that promote justice and order • Rules are intended to protect the rights of the individual, the minority, the absentee and the organization Enhancing the Lives of Women
Robert’s Rules of Order • Parliamentary authority for Zonta International is the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised • Zonta Club Manual covers members rights and responsibilities as well as parliamentary procedures • Other governing documents include: • Club Bylaws – the organization’s constitution • Club Standing Rules – parliamentary (club) rules of order Enhancing the Lives of Women

What is Ways and Means? • Ways and means is the process of raising funds • Funds raised go to local service projects and international service projects • Remember we are a service organization, so this process is important to our mission statement Enhancing the Lives of Women
External and Internal Fundraising • External Fundraising: Items sold to people who are not Zontians • All monies, minus 10% go toward local and international service projects • Internal Fundraising: Items sold to Zontians only • All monies go to administrative types of expenses Enhancing the Lives of Women

Purpose & Responsibilities • To improve the status of women • Recommend action and service projects that support Zonta’s objects, missions, and goals • Coordinate programs which raise the awareness of status of women and provide education and development Enhancing the Lives of Women
