National Grid: Our Employees • We employ: • Mainly electrical and mechanical engineers • Clerical and admin staff (Emergency Call Centres) • All core Business Functions: Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain, Information Services • Schemes: Graduates, Students, Apprentices, Foundation Engineers • Power of Action: a commitment by all employees to make a difference: • Many small changes = Big changes • Inclusion & Diversity, Energy solutions, Environment, Safety, Communities
Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) Journey • 2005 – Launched our I&D vision Aim: to attract and retain the best people, improve our effectiveness, deliver superior performance. Introduced Employee Resource Groups; PRIDE, ONE, NEWNET, WIN, Enabling, Faith@work, Families@Work • 2007 – Re-committed to the vision and introduced targets Aim: to re-energise our commitment and introduce Governance such as Global Steering Group • 2009 – Re-launched our I&D Business Case and develop an Inclusion Charter Aim: to provide a foundation to build inclusive behaviours within our organisation • 2010 – Launched Inclusive Leadership Programme Aim: To embed I&D into our culture via pro-active workshops throughout all Lines of Business
