Reading This week we will begin reading Ants at Work by David Neufeld. We will focus on various nonfiction text features, homophones, and r-controlled vowels or and er. Vocabulary test will be given on Friday.

Last week we began graphing “Smarties” for the 100th Day of School. We will be completing this activity this week as we add and subtract to answer various data questions.
This week we will be reviewing our unit on making change to $5.00 and $10.00. Later during the week we will begin our unit on measurement. There will be a quiz on Friday. Don’t forget to continue practicing for the Math Megaminds challenge. We will take our subtraction facts test again this Wednesday.
/ Social Studies We will continue our study of the moon this week. We will learn the different phases of the moon, how long it takes for the moon to orbit the Earth, and the size of the moon. In Social Studies we will begin learning about Jackie Robinson.
Reminders • Target for 2nd grade will now be on Thursdaysand no longer on Wednesdays. • The Tellus Museum field trip has been rescheduled for April. More information to follow. • Weather Make-up Dates February 2, 2011 (Previously Early Release Day) and March 18, 2011 (Previously Teacher Work Day)
