An entitlement is an agreement to allow the client use the license keys on the CBU for production purposes as long as they are not used concurrently with the primary production system. Transferring IBM i entitlements means that the client agrees that he will use the CBU processor activations he has purchased for HA operations non currently with its primary counterpart. In order to temporarily transfer either IBM i or 5250 Enterprise Enablement's from the primary system, you need to have at least one IBM i and and/or one of Enterprise Enablement license on your CBU. If the primary IBM is an Enterprise Edition, the �base� 5250 Enterprise Enablement's can not be transferred, but optional enablement's (above the base) can be temporarily transferred. AIX and Linux licenses can be transferred between the primary and backup cores without the commensurate i power operating system registration process. Temporary means as long as the registered primary and secondary are associated for the designated HA/DR operation. If one of the pair is sold or deployed in a new mission, transfer entitlements go with the primary server. If you�re a client with a consolidated environment that includes i partitions, AIX partitions and/or Linux partitions, this process is only to enable you use the IBM i resources on the CBU without purchasing them. For your AIX and Linux partitions you simply transfer them as you would do in any PowerHA solution implementation. This CBU offering is designed to address that fact that IBM i licenses are not transferable as they are with AIX and Linux. Note that Cross Site Mirroring (XSM) is the replication categories people know it means IBM replication and indeed that is what it means. If you want IBM hardware based clustering for HA or DR and you want to line up with IBM strategic investments you will go with the products in the upper box �no third party software is required. If you wish to deploy logical replication and you want the IBM offering you will choose iCluster or iCluster SMB. If you are only looking for basic SAN replication services to create flash copies for tape backups etc, or you want to create a total system replication for disaster recovery, you can use the Copy Services solutions. 17. 17 CBU Being Used in the Switchover Mode Optional license entitlements on the primary are transferable to the registered CBU License Agreement for entitlement transfer Ts and Cs must be reviewed and agreed to by the client. In an active �switchover� mode IBM i license entitlements and/or enterprise enablement's are allowed to be temporarily moved to the CBU edition. Temporary means for as long as the registered primary system and the CBU are connected. Only the optional license entitlements are transferable from the primary to the CBU You will need at least one IBM i Enterprise Enablement license on your new CBU if you are connecting to a primary with 5250. (except in the case of the Power 520 which has user entitlements) CBU processors must be permanently activated to accommodate the licenses. (They will have to be LPARed in a non-active partition if activated and not used) Transferable license entitlements may not be used concurrently. They are used either on the primary system or on the CBU system. CBU based license entitlements can�t be transferred to the production system. On/Off daily charges would apply to any processors used in the switchover that are not permanently activated. You need KEYS to activate processors �Temporary (On/Off) or permanent IBM i keys are assigned to the production system are not required on the CBU for licenses temporarily transferred. IPLA software PIDs will require back-up keys.

18. 18 What can and can not be transferred Base IBM i user entitlements, IBM i base processor entitlements or base enterprise enablement's, included at no additional charge with your purchase of a machine, may not be moved to the another machine. Optional IBM i User entitlement, optional IBM i processor entitlements or optional enterprise enablement, purchased for an additional charge, may be temporarily moved from a Primary Machine to its corresponding CBU Machine (at which time the "Out of Compliance" IBM i error message may be ignored) and may subsequently be moved back to the Primary Machine. Optional IBM i User entitlement, optional IBM i processor entitlements IBM i or optional enterprise enablement initially acquired on the corresponding CBU Machine may not be moved to another Machine.

19. 19 IBM i Temporary Transferal Procedure A software key tells each system�s license manager how many i processor license entitlements each system has. If the client ever runs/assigns more i work than the system has entitlements; then messages are periodically issued to the operator indicating the IBM is out of license compliance. By the terms of the IBM licensing agreement, the client must then bring the IBM into compliance by either a) reducing i workload or b) adding i processor license entitlements. Signing the additional license agreement for CBU temporary transfers documents that IBM and the client understand when entitlements can be transferred from the primary to the CBU system. (Signature is either a real signature or a �click to accept�.) IMPORTANT � when entitlements are temporarily transferred to the CBU system, the software key information on neither machine is altered. Thus the CBU system will issue the out-of-compliance message indicating i is out of compliance The additional license agreement terms give permission to the client under this situation to ignore these messages. The client agrees to monitor the i usage on both the primary and CBU systems to ensure the i usage on the pair of machines does not exceed the total number of i processor license entitlements. In addition to IBM i processor license entitlement, the Power 520 has IBM i user entitlements. User entitlements are transferable from the primary the Power 520 CBU. If the primary system does not use i user entitlements and you must purchase user entitlements for your CBU. (these entitlements are offered at reduced price at the time of ordering a new Power 520 CBU)�

Temporary means that the transferred entitlements �belong� to the primary system. If the primary system goes away, all optional transferred IBM i user entitlements or IBM i license entitlements remain with the primary system. Can I transfer my base IBM i user entitlements ? No, the base IBM i entitlements are not transferable Why are reduced price IBM i user entitlements offered as part of the initial purchase of a Power 520 CBU if the primary system doesn�t have them ? Certain systems do not have IBM i user entitlements and the Power 520 REQUIRES them. You need to acquire enough IBM i user entitlements to support your role swap operations between your eligable primary and your Power 520 CBU. What happens to my reduced price IBM i entitlements if I upgrade my old 9406-520 to a new Power 520 or if my old 520 goes away ? The reduced price IBM i user entitlements are valid as long as your Power 520 CBU is paired with your registered system or if that system has been upgraded. The reduced price user entitlements you initially purchased are still valid and may be used as long as the two systems initially registered remain paired together. Is my primary system required have more CPWs than my Power 520 CBU ? With the introduction of IBM i user entitlements this is not a requirement. You must however purchase as many IBM i user entitlements as you need to support your 520 primary IBM in role swap operation.
