Measurement The Mars Climate Orbiter (MCO) In one of the all time great engineering mistakes, NASA’s partner, Lockheed Martin, used English Standard units, not the metric units used by NASA. The probe eventually hit the Martian atmosphere at the wrong angle and burned up.
