  1. APA Style • Footnotes Wood and Thompson (1980) have contributed to the foundation of knowledge on the adult learner by identifying eleven essential criteria. These three stages were later refined by Fuller and Bown in 1975 to include more detail regarding the concerns of each teacher during each stage (Allain, 1985).
