  5. MSDS Terms • Acute – short term exposure or related health effect lasting for min, hrs, or days • Chronic – long term exposure or related health effect lasting for months or years

  6. MSDS Terms • TWA – time weighted average • average concentration workers can be exposed to for 8hr/day and 40hr/week without harmful effects • PEL – Permissible Exposure Limit • the U.S. legal exposure limit to a chemical

  8. MSDS Terms • LD50 – Lethal Dose 50% • the amount of a chemical, given all at once, which causes the death to 1/2 of test animal group • LC50 – Lethal Concentration 50% • The concentration of a chemical in air which causes the death to 1/2 of test animal group
