Most stations have been built so long ago and are susceptible to dirt, grime, rust, leakage. 82 percent of all underground platforms suffer from significant water damage. Which has yet to be the focus of repairs because the MTA is worried about immediate safety
Standing on the yellow line has been linked to many accidents, although fatalities were down to 53 compared to 55 in 2012. But the number of people who were struck by trains rose 7% to 151 in 2013.
Since everyone uses the train trying to save money, gas, and time . It causes overcrowding in trains. Statistics said in 2006 that annual ridership was 4.9 million a day
The E train runs from Jamiaca/Parsons to the world trade center. It has been known to be one of the dirtiest trains in the subway. According to the Straphangers Campaign the percentage of clean cars on the E train is 29 percent, which is tied with the Q train.
There has been an increase of cops in the subway because in 2012 crime had risen 20 percent.
Since most subway stations are underground it gives the homeless a place to stay and sleep when weather conditions are not ideal to be outside and they have no where else to go
Soliciting in train stations for yourself is illegal. If the soliciting is for a charity it is allowed but not if you are in the subway cars. It has to be outside of the train
