Brazilian and European Portuguese Tupi-Guarani, which was/has been the language used by the natives to communicate with Portuguese and which continued/ have continued to be used in the Amazon until the 19th century, greatly influenced Brazilian Portuguese.
Brazilian and European Portuguese The word pineapple, for example,is/wasananás in Portugal as in other European languages.But in Brazil, it is/wasabacaxi as in Tupi.The word ananás in Brazil refers/referred to an acid variety of pinapple.
