  9. This is what Mrs. Martin looks like after a typical day with 6th graders!

  10. But seriously….. We will be looking at four general purposes of ART throughout time. Believe it or NOT, Art has been around since Prehistoric Times! Even before we started writing, we drew pictures. What purpose could primitive art serve?

  11. Can you think of a reason why early man would draw this picture of a bison?

  12. What different animals can you see in this picture?

  13. The purpose of cave paintings is believed to be tied to RELIGION!!!Throughout HISTORY, RELIGION has been the focus of many great pieces of art. Can you think of any?

  15. Remember ART is not just paintings!

  16. A second purpose of ART is to commemorate a significant event. Can you think of any?

  17. Hints: • Painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence • Lincoln Memorial • Jefferson Rotunda • Statue of Liberty To name a few!!!!!

  19. The third purpose of ART is to tell a story.Most pieces of ART either represent a piece of a story or have a story of their own.
