Section 2 • Experiment design--four groups in RR grid One using different data including cold start test---the radar data has positive impact ; the impact of radar data last about 4-6 hours or so; when using radar data, it should be cold started with about 12 hours interval—case dependent? one using different cloud analysis method---stratiform , convective and take the advantage of both: convective are better than stratiform during the mature stage of MCS; using Steiner et al. 1995 method, but the result are more like that form stratiform since most of the cloud cover region are classified as stratiform areas.
One running of different procedures: the result are more like each other • One using different horizontal scale for radar radial veloicty: because of the coarse resolution of RR, different horizontal has little impact for this MCS forecast
