BCAP important information: • Administration Schedule • Materials delivered the week of July 21 • July 29th (All students present must be tested) • July 30th (Make Ups for absent students) • BCAP is an un-timed Reading Test • Student Answer Sheets will NOT be Preprinted with Student ID information • Student ID information will have to be hand gridded onto the Answer Sheets • Students will record their answers directly into their test books by circling the letter of their answer choice • Students are allowed to underline or circle words or phrases in the passages or questions

BCAP important information: • Students may use the empty space in their test books as work space • Test Administrators will transcribe student answers onto the corresponding Student Answer Sheets • Accuracy in transcribing answers is a MUST • Student Name, ID number (using external number from TERMS), School Number and Grade Level (current grade level in TERMS) must be complete and accurate on the Student Answer Sheets • Write the school name on the Student Answer Sheet in the space provided in Section E.

Administration Accommodations • Who is eligible? • 3rd Grade Students who have NOT met promotion criteria • ESE students with current IEPs • ELL students • 504 students (Arrangements must be made in advance) • Possible Accommodations: ELL Students • Flexible Setting • Flexible Scheduling • Flexible Timing • Assistance with Directions in the heritage language • Approved Translation Dictionary ESE/504 Students • Presentation • Responding • Scheduling • Setting • Assistive Devices

  5. Materials Needed • BCAP Test Grade 3 Administration Manual for Summer 2014 • BCAP Reading Grade 3 Test Booklets • Student Answer Sheets • District Benchmark Assessment: Reading • Sharpened#2 Pencils • Do Not Disturb sign

  6. Student Answer Sheets • Student Answer Sheets will require hand gridding of the following: • Student Name • Student ID number (external number from TERMS) • School Number • Grade Level (current grade level in TERMS) • School Name (reading camp site - hand write in section E)

Test Invalidation • It may be necessary to invalidate a test if any of the following situations occur: • Student is cheating or has disruptive behavior • Student becomes ill during the test • Incorrect time was allowed to complete the test If any of the above occurs… Write INVALIDATE on the front cover of the student’s test book. • Invalidated test books should be returned with the Not To Be Scored materials.

Administration Record • Maintain a record of: • Students present for the BCAP test • Students absent for the BCAP test • Students who were present but whose test books were invalidated • Make copies for your records and return the originals to Student Assessment & Research with your Not To Be Scored materials

Test Security DO NOT Read the passages or test items • Reveal the passages or test items • Copy the passages or test items • Interpret or read test items or passages for students • Change or interfere with student responses • Cause achievement of schools to be inaccurately measured or reported • Copy or read student responses DO • Collect materials daily • Place materials in locked storage • If materials are missing, • Initiate a thorough investigation • IMMEDIATELY contact Student Assessment & School Performance at (754) 321-4250

Proctors • In rooms where more than 30 students will be tested, there should be a proctor trained and assigned to monitor the class as an extra set of eyes in addition to the test Administrator. • Proctors should only serve as assistants to the Test Administrator and should be made aware of all Test Security procedures and policies.

Test Administrator Responsibilities Before Testing: • Prepare the room for testing by covering visual aids that may help students with answering test questions • Receive and prepare all necessary materials needed for testing During Testing: • Distribute materials • Read script, VERBATIM, as written in the Test Administration Manual • Make sure each student writes his or her own name in the space provided on the front of the test book, as stated in the script • Supervise and monitor the administration of the test • Maintain test security at all times After Testing: • Collect all Test Books from the students. • Notify Testing Coordinator, immediately, if any materials are missing • Test Administrators will transcribe answers from the Students’ Test Books to their corresponding Answer Sheets. This information must be transcribed VERBATIM • Complete the 2014 BCAP Administration Record • Prepare transcribed answer sheets and manuals for return to Test Coordinator

  13. Test Administrator Return Materials to Testing Coordinator Stack materials in this order: 1. BCAP Administration Record 2. Test Administration Manual 3. Test Books for Absent students (hold for make-up) 4. TO BE SCORED answer sheets 5. ALL BCAP (used and unused)

Testing Coordinator Responsibilities Before Testing: • Receive and inventory test materials • Train Test Administrators • Prepare Administration Records • Arrange for implementation of students with accommodations • Assign proctors, if needed During Testing: • Supervise test administration • Maintain test security • Supervise make-up administrations

Testing Coordinator Responsibilities After Testing: • Verify the return of ALL test materials • Notify Student Assessment ASAP if any materials are missing • Check that student answers have been transcribed onto their corresponding Answer Sheets • Test Administrators will transcribe student answers from test books to answer sheets • Complete BCAP 2014 Materials Return Form (The original form is returned with your NTBS materials). • Verify Administration Records are correct (The original form is returned with your NTBS materials). • Make copies of ALL forms for your records.

Testing Coordinator Materials Return (BCAP) ALL BCAP Test Materials will be picked up on Thursday, July 31st by Student Assessment Staff between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm To Be Scored and Not To Be Scored Materials MUST be boxed separately: • To Be Scored (Red label) • Not To Be Scored (Yellow label) To Be Scored (Red label) to include: 1. Completed BCAP Materials Return Form (placed form on the top of the Answer Sheets in Box 1) 2. Transcribed Answer Sheets should all face the same direction 3. Use the space on the Red label marked “Box __of __” to number boxes (1 of n, 2 of n, where n is the total number of To Be Scored boxes)

  17. Testing Coordinator Materials Return (BCAP) • Not to Be Scored (Yellow label) to include: • 1. Administration Record (placed form on the top of Test Books in Box 1) • 2. Misgridded Answer Sheets and Unused (blank) Answer Sheets • Used, unused, and invalidated BCAP Reading Grade 3 Test Books (ALL Test Books used and unused must be accounted for) • Use the space on the Yellow label marked “Box __of __” to • number boxes (1 of n, 2 of n, where n is the total number of • Not To Be Scored boxes) • Again: • To Be Scored and Not To Be Scored Materials MUST be • Boxed separately using the correct colored labels • Please do not use oversized boxes for packing materials as • this may cause injury to district staff
