Who are you? Who are you? • What program are you with? • What is your role? • What will you do with the information you learn today?
Our Purpose Today • Many approaches to “scaling up” with PBS • Your Journey: Personal and project levels • Where are you now? • Where do you want to go? • Trail maps: Benchmarks of Quality • Determining your route: Action Plan
My Journey with PBIS • 1975, began to study EC, no tools to support YC with CB • 2002, began collaboration with CSEFEL, U of IL, pilot program-wide PBS, Valeska Hinton ECEC • 2004, began sharing CSEFEL materials • 2006, began coaching classroom teachers, working with parents, PW PBIS implementation • The adventure continues…. Training others, facilitating/consulting for projects at many different levels of moving toward full implementation, development of materials
Where is your project in this journey? • Commitment is made to support S/E development of young children • Knowledge is gained re: PBIS for YC • Leadership Team is formed, begin to develop an implementation plan (PD, expectations, plan to support children with CB) • Involvement of families and community partners • Plan for DDDM (IOP, TPOT, TPITOS, Bof Q, BIRS) • Teach, acknowledge and teach again, at all levels (coaching, refresher trainings, new staff trainings) • Collaborate, communicate, celebrate!
Implementation Designs • 1 site/location/building • Multiple sites, all in 1 area • Multiple sites, many locations • Community-wide • Regional • State-level
Trail Maps • Site Readiness Checklist • Benchmarks of Quality • CSEFEL & TACSEI materials
Your Journey, Your Trail Map • Where are you now? • Where do you want to go? • What needs to be done to move along on the trail, your journey, your implementation plan?
