Purbeck Core Strategy – Next Steps • Adoption anticipated early 2013 as The Purbeck District Local Plan (Part 1) • The first of the planning documents to form the new ‘Local Plan’
Purbeck: Spatial Areas • Five subdivisions • These reflect the character and distinctiveness of Purbeck’s settlements and countryside
Relevant Local Plan Policies Policy NW: North West Purbeck • Includes Bere Regis, Briantspuddle and the surrounding area in the NW of District • Bere Regis identified as the main focus for service provision and housing growth
Policy NW: North West Purbeck The role of Bere Regis will be supported through allocation in the Neighbourhood Plan of: • Some new family and affordable housing to include 50 units within a new settlement extension (40% affordable units) • New informal public open space (SANGs) to be provided in association with the housing allocation • To investigate opportunities for providing a new employment site
Policy NW: North West Purbeck Proposals will also need to investigate the opportunity to provide: • A larger health centre • A new community meeting space • The relocation of Bere Regis School • A review the Settlement Boundary
