Learning Environment • Students will work individually or in groups of 2 • They will work at a computer with speakers in a computer lab.
Objectives • Given a power point the students will learn about animals that have become endangered. • They will learn the causes and what they can do to prevent it. • The class will identify which species are endangered or not. • There will be a quiz where the student will at least get 80% accuracy.
Orientation • Due to certain issues animals are becoming endangered. • Over time animals that are endangered are also becoming extinct. • You’ll learn about different species and how they are becoming endangered. • There will be a quiz at the end so PAY ATTENTION!!!

Giant Panda Ailuropodamelanoleuca Description: • A black and white bear with black fur on it’s ears. • It has black patches over eyes, legs, muzzle. • They have thick coat to keep them warm in it’s habitat and also acts as camouflage. • The bear weighs up to 250 pounds and is the size of a black bear. • They tend to live for 28-35 years. Endangered

Burrowing Owl Athenecunicularia Description: • The owl got its name from the habit of living in underground burrows. • They are covered in brown spotted feathers and have long legs. • The owl has distinctive white eye brows above its yellow eyes. • It is one of the smallest owls in North America. • They live up to 8 ½ years and weigh 6 ounces. • Both female and male look alike. Endangered

Black-Footed Ferret Black-Footed Ferret Mustelanigripes • Description: • A member of the weasel family. • Only native ferret in North America. • It has a tan body with black legs and feet, a black tip on the tail and a black mask. • It has short legs with large front paws and claws developed for digging. • Its large skull and strong jaw and teeth are adapted for eating meat. • Their live 3-4 years in wildlife and 8-9 years in captivity. And weigh 1.5-2.5 pounds. Endangered
