Along came the Beatles … The Beatles style changed so much over the years that it’s pretty impossible to pin point what they are. The traditional word ‘pop’ is used as an abbreviation of Popular music and the 60’s was the birth of pop. Have a listen to these tracks and try to imagine what must have happened when the Beatles came along. Particularly when you bare in mind how similar music was in the 50s and now on one record all of this choice … The Beatles constantly looked to stretch themselves musically (this made them pioneers) They called upon all sorts of inspiration and constantly looked to make innovative compositions. When people state the Beatles as the best band in the word it is due to their ever ambitious sound and influence on other recordings.
Rock rears its ugly head … (DISTORTION – click on links) The late 60s was the birth of rock & roll. The kinks got the ball rolling when they started to make little slits in the speakers of their amps. It was this idea that inspired Jim Marshall to design an amp with distortion. This whole concept was built for Jimi Hendrix which is partially the reason for his success. This was a new sound, and anything new in the 60’s was gold! This 60s spawned the age of destroying your instruments.
Pentatonic scale … The pentatonic scale is a collection of five notes. They are assorted in relation to the major or minor scale and are extremely common in pretty much all types of music. Maybe change this to G so it works with the song? Minor pentatonic scale … I III IV V VII C D Eb F G Ab Bb C
