Equipment • 20 soccer balls • Soccer field • 2 goals • Water bottles for each player • 50 cones
Warm Up (10 Mins) • Take a 5 minute jog around the entire field • After the jog stretch well for another 5 minutes
1 v 1 to goal (10 Mins) • Divide into defenders/defensive mids, forwards/attacking mids, and goalkeepers • Attackers form a single file line at the halfway line • Defenders stand behind the goal while 1 takes goal kicks to the attackers • When the attacker receives the ball the drill becomes a 1 v 1 going to goal
Water Break (5 Mins) • 5 minutes for water break and rest
Line Ball (15 Mins) • Divide teams evenly • Set aside the field by making the boundaries from the top of the 18 yard box to the halfway line and sideline to sideline • Each team puts one player on each sideline. The rest of the players play keep away in the middle. To score a player must pass the ball to one of his/her teammates on the line. When this happens the player who played that teammate the pass becomes the player on the outside and the player receiving the pass comes into the middle. The ball must go back across to the other sideline before it can go back to the same player.
Water (5 Mins) • 5 minute water break and rest
Conditioning • Three different types of conditioning • Hurdles • Weaving • Sprints
Hurdles (5 Mins) • Everyone gets a partner • First two partners take a knee and grab each others arm to form a low hurdle • The rest of the players form a single file line behind them • The line goes one by one jumping over the hurdle • When they get over the hurdle the take a knee and grab their partners arm and keep the chain going • When the last person in line goes the first group gets up and goes through all the hurdles • Continue for 5 minutes
Weaving (5 Mins) • Divide the team into 2 even groups • Stand in 2 even rows facing each other about 10 yards apart • Make sure there is about 2 yards of space between each person in the row • The first line sprints around the last person on the row and weaves through the players and stop back where they started • The other row now weaves through the first row and both rows continue
Sprints (5 Mins) • Divide into 2 single file lines • Set out 5 cones evenly spaced 5 yards apart • The line starts behind the first cone • The first person from each line sprints to the first cone, then back to the start, then to the second and back, third and back, and so on. • Once the first person has gone through all the cones and come back the second person starts
