Great Problem • Today, parents are forced to make a choice – to stay at home with the child until finding ways of babysitting • Lack of creche places.
“Short-Term” Babysitting • Game room service offered in public rooms mainly, which enables to be actively engaged in an activity appropriate to the age due to its furnishings and personnel training. • Children in game room are of different age and come and go during the day. • Short-term babysitting is flexible and supports the working, learning or coping of the child`s parent.

WHY SHOULD THERE BE SUCH A GAME ROOM AT ALL? TO OFFER • an alternative solution in addition to kindergarten • communication possibility for mothers on maternity leave and home-raised children • the parents to use their time more freely • various activities in new environment with numerous study aids under the guidance of trained babysitter • a job
WHO NEED IT AND WHY? • CHILD – social contacts, safety, well-being • PARENT – free time, self-education, part-time job = without guilt in case of child under 3 years of age = full “cup” MOTHER • LOCAL GOVERNMENT – supporting service for family, children at kindergarten full-time, region – distance from the child`s place of residence, flexible choice of room usage • STATE – compliance with laws and political promises
ROOMS Põlva City Government provided the rooms on the ground floor of Family Centre Põlva City Government financed the repair works At the moment we are lessees there
ROOMS Game room, kitchen, restrooms, lobby, room for personnel, information room for parents Furnishings were bought with money from the EQUAL project of the Office of the Minister for Population and Ethnic Affairs
BABYSITTERS • have passed babysitter`s course, first aid course and taken professional examination • have valid health certificate • work on the basis of contract for services • game room`s manager-babysitter and babysitter work at our place • project coordinator
BABYSITTER`S WORKTASKS • Ensuring a physically and mentally safe environment • Supporting the child`s development via daily activities taking into consideration the age-based needs of the child • Keeping an eye on the child`s personal hygiene, guiding, helping
BABYSITTER`S WORKTASKS • Observing the child`s diet and helping if necessary • Communicating with family, developing the child`s social contacts
SHORT-TERM BABYSITTING SERVICE • infants 6 months – 3 years and for bigger children if necessary • maximum 4 hours for one child • on the average 4 – 12 children at a time • 2 employees at work at a time • no catering or sleeping • at option, mothers-fathers may stay in the game room, attend the children themselves, become acquainted with with literature (Pere ja Kodu, ...)
SHORT-TERM BABYSITTING ARRANGEMENT • parent brings and gives child to babysitter • registers time of arrival • agrees upon the duration of babysitting • babysitter introduces standing orders • service is free of charge (up to the end of the project) • babysitters clean rooms
GAME ROOM ACTIVITIES • free play • ladder climbing • physical activity games with auxiliary means • board games • reading out children`s books, looking at them together with child • drawing
GAME ROOM ACTIVITIES • rhythm exercises and games • singing • handwork • moulding • rope climbing • no playing outside
