Artist Trading Cards ATCs and ACEOs
Artist trading cards • Artist trading cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art about the same size as modern baseball cards,or2 ½ X 3 ½ inches small enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets. • Cards are produced in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media (in the form of collage, papercuts, found objects, etc.) or even metals or cloth. • The cards are usually traded or exchanged.
Often trading cards are mixed media, which means they use various materials to create the art. In these examples you can see collage, pen, buttons, lace, and paint.
Art cards editions and originals • When sold, ATCs are usually referred to as art card editions and originals (ACEOs). • An offshoot of artist trading cards are art card editions and originals (ACEOs), which originated when some artists began to create cards to sell, in addition to trading among themselves. Many ACEOs are sold on internet auction sites, such as eBay.
