  2. Programs Available • Performance Learning Center • Ombudsman • Alternative School • Night School • Project Graduation • Summer Diploma Program • E2020 Credit Recovery • Virtual Academy

Performance Learning Center • Located at 2300 Shoals School Road, Douglasville, GA 30135 • Maximum enrollment is 90 students; No minimum age or grade requirement to be considered for enrollment • 1 Administrator; 6 Teachers • Students are in class from 9:00 am -3:15 pm Monday - Friday • There is a bus that transports students to and from the PLC each day • Priority is given to seniors and students who are behind in credits

Performance Learning Center • Students work independently at an accelerated pace • A student can earn more than 4 units in a semester • Students graduate with an AHS diploma as long as all requirements have been met – they can participate in ALL senior activities • Students can participate in extra-curricular activities as long as eligibility requirements have been met • Students interested in the PLC need to see the Graduation Coach

Performance Learning Center In order for a student to be placed on the waiting list for admission to the Performance Learning Center, the student must: • Take a Placement Test and score at least a 70 or higher on reading and math OR pass an English or Math EOCT(permission form required for testing) • Complete an application packet (discipline, attendance, and 2 teacher recommendations required) • Participate in an interview with PLC staff

Ombudsman Alternative School • Students are referred by the Principal to Ombudsman Alternative School for disciplinary reasons (county office approval required) • Once a student enrolls in alternative school, the AHS schedule in Infinite Campus changes to reflect OMB courses • Students attend class 3 hours per day; NO transportation is provided • OMB assigns all grades and attendance while a student is enrolled in their program.

  7. Ombudsman Alternative School • Students are allowed back on campus for all state mandated testing – MUST be supervised at all times • Students may return to AHS once time assigned has been completed. • For seniors assigned to attend alternative school second semester, participation in graduation is the Principal’s decision.

  8. Ombudsman Night School • A student must be 16 years old in order to attend • There are 4 mini-mesters in a school year; a student can start night school at the beginning of any mini-mester • Students can take 2 core and 1 elective each mini-mester(potentially 12 credits in a year); Seniors can take 3 core their final mini-mester • NO transportation is provided • Night School is FREE if a student attends full-time

Ombudsman Night School • Once a student enrolls in night school, the AHS schedule in Infinite Campus changes to reflect OMB courses • Students report to AHS for all state mandated testing • Students graduate with an AHS diploma as long as all requirements have been met – they can participate in all senior activities • Students interested in attending night school need to see a counselor or Graduation Coach

Ombudsman Project Graduation • Day program for students who have NOT been in trouble or who have very little discipline; Participation is voluntary • Each high school has a specific number of slots. • Priority given to at-risk seniors and juniors • Once a student enrolls in Project Graduation, the AHS schedule in Infinite Campus changes to reflect OMB courses • FREE

Ombudsman Project Graduation • Students take 8 classes all year unless extenuating circumstances exist; • Students attend class 3 hours per day; NO transportation is provided • Students report to AHS for all state mandated testing • Students graduate with an AHS diploma as long as all requirements have been met – they can participate in all senior activities

Ombudsman Summer Diploma Program A senior is eligible to attend the Ombudsman Summer Diploma Program if: • The student has completed at least 4 years of high school • The student has completed all coursework required for a Douglas County School System Diploma • The student has attempted the Georgia High School Graduation Tests every time they are offered • The student has $500 to pay for the OMB Summer Diploma Program

  13. Seniors who choose to attend the Ombudsman Summer Diploma Program are withdrawn from Alexander High School on the next to the last day of school and are coded as a ‘transfer out-of-state’. These students do NOT count as drop-outs. These students are allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony at AHS. Students who complete the Ombudsman Summer Diploma Program are awarded an Ombudsman Educational Services diploma that is accredited through the State of Illinois. (Ombudsman headquarters is located in Illinois.)

  14. E2020 Credit Recovery • Students must have FAILED a course in order for it to be made up through credit recovery. • A student must take the EOCT if it is required for the course • In order to register for credit recovery, a student must see a counselor in order to get a referral completed. Coach Moistner and Coach Combs are in charge of E2020.

  17. Virtual Academy • Anon-traditional program for students • Students complete courses on-line via E2020; Must be self-motivated and have access to the internet •  Must be within 10 credits of satisfying graduation requirements (or recommendation of Principal AND approval of Virtual Academy Academic Coordinator) • Limited or no discipline • Complete and submit a short application • Students can complete all coursework online at home except tests and state assessments • Students are required to physically attend at least one session each week (to take tests & career readiness prep) • Failure to make adequate progress or attend weekly sessions will result in dismissal from the program • See a counselor or Graduation Coach for more information
