Announcements • Thursday Night Bible Study • Boy Scouts at the Mount – 4/20-21 • Worship Night at the Mount - 4/27 • Last Missions Fundraiser – 4/28 • Berks Women In Crisis Dinner – 5/3 • Fire Company at the Mount – 5/12 • Missions Team Leaves – 5/18
Crucifixion, Death, Resurrection • John records his encouragement to us as a result of his account of Jesus (John 20:30-31) • Jesus meets His disciples in their every day
Who loved Him more? • Jesus reveals himself to His disciples • John recognizes Him first • Peter puts on a robe and jumps into the sea and swims to shore • The others drag the fish to the beach edge and haul in the large catch • Who loved Him more????
The restoration of Peter • Jesus references Peters fallen state twice • Tells Mary to get His disciples and Peter (Mark 16:7) • addresses him with his pre-disciple name (reference John 1:42) • Christ seeks a change in Peter’s character • Do you love me more than everyone else?
If you love Me, Feed My Lambs • The question and words imply a direction to Peter – feed the little ones. • Do we value young lives as much as we do older lives? • Do we seek out the gifts and talents God has given the young ones? • What about the ones who are new in Christ, young in their spiritual walk?
If you love Me, Tend My Sheep • Tending sheep means to: • Supply them with the finest grazing • Find the richest pastures • Makes preparation for the winter months • Continues to seek out and fill them with clean water • They are his priority. He will provide: • Shelter from storms • Protection from ruthless enemies • Guards against disease and parasites
If you love Me, Feed My Sheep • Tending is good and fine, but we must never allow it to be the ultimate goal. • The Word of God is the food. You must help others to seek out and be fed • You don’t have the power to “make” someone eat, but you can point them to the food that truly satisfies (Heb 5:12-14)
My goodness Peter…. • Jesus warns of the death Peter will die • Was it the consequences of his denial? • Peter quickly turns his attention to the other disciple (what about him?) • Are we more occupied with others than we are with Jesus? • That leads to burnout, that leads to comparisons, that leads to empty
