Document Goal • This document seeks to advise senior members on how to quickly become a qualified and contributing member in CAP’s Emergency Services (ES) Area • This document contains links to key documents or sources of additional information from The CAP National, GA Wing and PDK Sr. Squadron Web Sites • Please refer to official CAP Regulations for all Emergency Services training (SQTRs) and other requirements

3. Why CAP ES Is Important? • One of Three CAP Missions • Emergency Services • CAP Flies 95% of Inland SAR Missions • CAP Saves An Average of 100 Lives Per Year • Aerospace Education • Cadet/Youth Development Programs • CAP Is A Primary Search And Rescue (SAR) Organization

Why Is CAP ES Important? • ES Is Also One Of Three Interrelated CAP Senior Member Roles • Emergency Services (ES) Qualification • Qualification for a job on a SAR Mission • Requires skills training and evaluation (SQTR) • Squadron Staff and Duty Role • Ensure Squadron’s Effectiveness by Staff Officer Contribution • CAP Professional Development • Personal Development Required for CAP Recognition and Advancement (rank, awards, ribbons and other)

What Is Needed to Get Started in ES Prerequisites • Permanent CAP ID Card and Completed Level I • Complete CAP Tests 116 Parts I & II • Printed Copy of CAPF 101 (101 Card) • A Complete CAP Uniform • CAPF 60 Emergency Contact Form (2 Copies) • A PDK Squadron ES File (Pilot or Non) • Enroll in Georgia Wing email system (AEGES)

A CAP 101 Card (CAPF 101) • It Is A CAP Member’s ES Credential • Outlines ES Job Qualifications and Training Status and obtained via CAP eServices Site CAP Test 116 Part I & Part II • Provides Overview of CAP ES Procedures and Protocols • Introduction to Incident Response System (ICS) • Available Online Via CAP eServices Site

How To Start ES Training • Speak With Emergency Services Officer To Discuss Your Interests and ES Job Options • PDK ES Officer is Captain Roy Villers • Review Specialty Qualification Training Record (SQTR) Requirements for ES Jobs • Start ES Training • Sign-up For PDK Monthly SAR Exercises • Review Wing Training Schedule & VIPERS Updates • Enter Completed SQTR Tasks Into Member Information Management System (MIMS)

8. What Is? A Specialty Qualification Training Record • SQTRs Outline Tasks Member Must Demonstrate Proficiency In For ES Role • Sign-off On Tasks By Qualified Supervisor Only • Completed Tasks Entered Into MIMS with Supervisor’s CAPID • When All Task Completed, ES Officer Reviews Paper Copy and Squadron Commander Signs for Final Local Approval • When Wing Approves Qualification Will Appear on CAP 101

9. What Is? Member Information Management System (MIMS) • MIMS is An Electronic Record of All Member Information, Awards and ES Qualifications • Members Are Responsible for Updating MIMS • Quick Entry for SQTRS Available via eServices • Members Enter Completed Tasks in MIMS Noting Supervisor’s CAP ID • Supervisor Must “e-Sign-Off” On Completions of Task • Completed SQTRs Require Wing Review/Approval • ES Qualification Appear on Member’s CAPF 101

10. What Is? A PDK Squadron ES File • Local File For All Pilots and Non-Pilots • Separate from Personnel File • Used By Squadron To ID Staff For Real Missions • Includes Documentation of ES Training • Missions Completed and Role • Up to Date SQTRS (even if incomplete) • ES Training Include FEMA Course Certificates, Basic & Advanced Communication Course… • Members Are Responsible for Establishing and Updating This File (Keep Own Copies)

What Do I Do? • To Sign-Up for Training • Review Squadron and Wing Training Calendar • Sign-up And Send A Request for Specific Training • Before Training • Review SQTR Task Guides • During Training • Sign-In (CAPF 101 and CAPF 60) • Discuss Training Needs and Get Qualified Supervisor • Ensure SQTRs are Demonstrated • After Training • Login to MIMS Completed Tasks With Superivor’s CAPID • Update Your Squadron ES File

How Does CAP Recognize ES Work? • You May Be Called For A Real SAR Mission • Member Achievement of ES Qualifications/Skills Recognized with Multiple Awards • Emergency Service Patch • Mission Observer Ratings (Wings), Ground Team Badges… • Activity and Service Ribbons • More Importantly, You Are Helping CAP Achieve Its Core Mission

A Few Tips • SQTR Tasks Can Cross Pollinate • Tasks Completed While Training For One Job Often Count Toward Another Job • Consider Working on Multiple SQTRs • SQTRS Require Demonstration of Proficiency Not Just Completion of Task • Consider Multiple ES Roles Air Crew, Ground Team and Mission Base Staff • FEMA Offers Valuable ES Training Courses
