Types of patients • Voluntary patients: Patients who volunteer to be in the mental health hospital for self harm, eating disorders or other problems. • Involuntary patients: Patients that have to go without a choice. They normally require immediate treatment. • Many patients are normal people just with a strained relationship or have a substance problem. Patients family should show support to help them with their problems.

Treatments • Counseling- the patient meets with a psychologist and discusses how he/she feels. • Self Help Groups- groups of people with similar problems meet together. This is used when medication is not working and/or the patients have depression.
