  1. Things to Consider Before Selecting A Toddler Mattress Putting together the nursery is one of the most enjoyable aspects of expecting a kid. It is, however, one of the most crucial. While the ideal paint color and the cutest bedding are nice, providing a safe testing environment for your kid begins with selecting the best crib mattress. While a mattress may appear to be nothing more than a mattress, there are several important safety issues to bear in mind, as well as features to seek. Safety Standards Because safety is so important when picking a crib and mattress, federal rules have standardized the dimensions of full-size cribs and mattresses. This makes it simple to purchase the two items separately without having to worry about fit. These rules are in place to prevent inadvertent head entanglement and asphyxia between the mattress and the crib sides. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 enacted the laws, which entered into force in 2011.

  2. However, this restriction does not apply to non-full-size cribs. As a result, products must be sold with the mattress included by law. Measurements A full-size crib mattress must be at least 27 1/4 inches wide by 51 1/4 inches long by six inches thick. The regular crib mattress will fit safely in a full-size crib with an interior width of 27 3/8 inches to 28 5/8 inches and an interior length of 51 3/4 inches to 53 inches at these specifications.
