VENETO CASE-PROJECTS “RENOVATION AND OPTIMUM USE OF ABANDONED RURAL AND PRODUCTIVE BUILDINGS” will be implemented by a group of external experts • The activities carried out starting from the 1st of April 2005 are: • Drafting of a detailed work plan on the implementation of the two case-projects • a coordination meeting with the two Mountain Communities involved (“Agordina” and “Comelico Sappada”) • Collection of documents necessary to start up with the cases’ implementation
CASE-PROJECTSIMPLEMENTATION PHASE 1: preliminary analysis PHASE 2: local community involvement PHASE 3: collection and assessment of local needs PHASE 4: data collection and identification of rural buildings PHASE 5: definition of renovation and valorization criteria of abandoned buildings PHASE 6: feasibility projects PHASE 7:information and publicity
PHASE 1: preliminary analysis The Analysis will concern historical and cultural heritages of the small alpine towns and underline architectural and urban characteristics of rural buildings. The topics considered in the analysis: • historical and cultural heritagesof the territory concerned; • social-economic resources of the two Mountain Communities; • traditional jobs related to rural buildingsused for production purposes; • local development potentialitiesrelated to the renovation and use of rural buildings; • legislation issuesconcerning the renovation of rural buildings
PHASE 2: local community involvement PHASE 3: collection and assessment of local requests The implementation of the two case-projects will be based on a bottom-up approach: • the local communities are invited to workshops for express their needs and indicate the buildings to be restore • a set of questions are prepared to collect the local requests and needs concerning the restoration of rural buildings • the relevant requests and needs are considered in the implementation of the case-projects Activities of the Phases: 2 initial workshops 2 mid-term workshops 1 final regional conference
PHASE 4: data collection and identification of rural buildings In this phase the experts will provide to collect data concerned the main characteristic of the rural buildings and to identify those that have an evident historical value. The topics of this phase are: • Identification of historical rural buildings registered by local municipalities in catalogues • Implementation of a database and data storage • Identification of the architectural features of the buildings registered
PHASE 5: definition of renovation and valorization criteria of abandoned buildings The aim of this phase is to identify new possible uses of the rural buildings and problems linked to their re-use. The topics of this phase are: • Analysis of legislation • Identification of re-use criteria and techniques • Working proposals to preserve peculiar features of alpine landscapes Outputs: “Guidelines for renovation and optimum use of rural abandoned buildings” “Handbook of new building uses, working tools and best practices”
PHASE 6: feasibility projects The criteria defined in the previous phases will be applied to specific buildings as explanatory examples. Structure of the projects: • technical reports • planimetries and maps • preliminary estimation cost and financial plan • specifications
PHASE 7: information and publicity The aim of this phase is to disseminate the results of Veneto case-projects. The experts will draw up the “communication plan” which will provide the following outputs: • Invitation leaflets • Meeting and conference minutes • Photos and cartographies of buildings • Brochures Some of these outputs will be handed out during the workshops and the final conference, some others will be published on the project web site
CASE-PROJECTSGANNT The implementation of the foreseen activities have begun on the 1st of April 2005 and will probably last until the 31st of March 2006, as described in the following chart:
