TI-Nspire Family Six handhelds • The TI-Nspire solution brings together different representations including graphical, geometric, numeric,... • Graphs, geometric constructions, data tables, mathematical expressions/symbols and text are dynamically linked. • All calculations are numeric. TI-Nspire CAS Family • Is the same as TI-Nspire but has the extra features of the Computer Algebra System (CAS). • Calculations are numeric or symbolic. 7 | Lesson A.1
TI-Nspire Technology software • There are three licensed software products: • Student software • Teacher software • TI-Navigator Teacher software Teacher Software TI-Navigator Teacher Software Student Software 8 | Lesson A.1
TI-Nspire Student software View, author, edit documents. Create and print reports. Manage documents on connected handheld. Seamlessly continue work from the handheld on a computer platform. • It is a software for PC or Mac with the same functionalities as the TI-Nspire handheld, but with the benefits of a larger screen and a computer keyboard. • The software is available in two versions: TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS. • At retail the Student software comes bundled with a handheld. 9 | Lesson A.1
Is the same software as the student software, also available in two versions, TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS, but comes with extra features: TI-Nspire Teacher software • For presentation: Built-in TI-SmartView™ Emulator - The emulator's features integrate well with interactive whiteboards and digital projectors. • For Assessment: Question Application - This feature allows you to create questions and assess the students. • For Classroom management: you can exchange documents in an easy way and manage a class set of handhelds. • For organizing your content: you have a Content Workspace to search for and filter content. • Docking Station to charge batteries or exchange files between class sets and the teacher computer. 10 | Lesson A.1
Through a wireless network of TI-Nspire or TI-Nspire CAS handhelds or laptops, the TI-Nspire Navigator enables: TI-Nspire Navigator Teacher software • Instant Assessment: teachers can instantly gauge understanding of the students progress. • Increased Student Engagement: Any student can present their work from anywhere in the room. • Maximized Classroom Learning Time: Wirelessly transfer documents and collect, grade, save and record students' work. 11 | Lesson A.1
Exchanging documents TI-Nspire Docking Station and Docking Station CX Are classroom solutions for sending documents to handhelds, upgrading multiple handhelds at a time and storing and recharging class sets. Docking Station Docking Station CX 12 | Lesson A.1
Exchanging documents TI-Nspire Computer Link software. Is software to share files between a handheld and a computer: educators and students can quickly and easily link a single TI-Nspire handheldor TI-Nspire CAS handheld to a single classroom or lab computer in order to: • Capture pictures into documents, or save screenshots as image files on your computer. • Back up and transfer documents between a handheld and a computer. • Update the handheld's operating system on a single, connected handheld. 13 | Lesson A.1
TI-Nspire ViewScreen™ panel When projecting from a standard overhead, the TI-Nspire ViewScreen panel is required for any connected TI-Nspire handheld or TI-Nspire CAS handheld. Also for the CX-handhelds. Accessories 14 | Lesson A.1

Lua Scripting Lua scripting is offered as part of TI-Nspire software and operating system (version 3.2). The capability to author and play Lua scripts within a TI-Nspire document is especially important for the creation of science simulations on the TI-Nspire platform. Adding Lua scripting to the TI-Nspire platform is a first step toward a long- planned programming environment that supports math and science curricula. 20 | Lesson A.1
In this lesson you learned that… • TI-Nspire Technology combines all commonly used applications in math & science classes. It runs on a handheld, a PC or a Mac. • There a two types of TI-Nspire Technology software: TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS. • There are three types of handhelds: the Clickpad, the Touchpad and the CX-handhelds. • There are three types of computer software: the Student software, the Teacher software and TI-Navigator Teacher software. • TI-Nspire TI-Navigator Teacher software creates a wireless network environment, that increases the students’ engagement in class, makes it easy to send documents and assess the students’ progress. • If you don't have TI-Nspire computer software, you'll need to download TI-Nspire Computer Link Software in order to connect the handheld to the PC and make screen captures or update the OS. 21 | Lesson A.1
