School Procedures • Changes in phone numbers, addresses and medical information should be given to me. • Medication must be brought in original prescription container by an adult. • All visitors MUST obtain and wear a visitors badge! • Transportation changes must be in writing. Phone calls only in emergency.
Daily Schedule • School begins at 8:50am and ends at 3:20 pm. • We will begin working as soon as students come into the room at 8:20. Please limit early check-outs. Check out by 2:30pm in these cases and no parking in front of building. • Students should go directly to cafeteria if eating breakfast before class. • Class schedule is on webpage—may change • Please send note if your child is sick or it UNEXCUSED. Some religious observances are excused.
Specials • Our specials classes are on a 7 day rotating schedule: • Day1: Math • Day 2: P.E.1 • Day 3: Art • Day 4: P.E.2 • Day 5: Computer • Day 6: Music • Day 7: Science
Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developmental Skills • GKIDS is a yearlong performance based assessment. • GKIDS assess literacy skills, math skills, science, social studies, personal/social development and approaches to learning.
Academic Knowledge and Skills( AKS) • AKS are standards in academic excellence for all students. In the kindergarten classroom, instructions are tailored to be engaging and creative so all students can learn the AKS.
Reading/Language ArtsThe Daily Five • Structured reading/language arts block • Students engaged in meaningful literacy tasks • Fosters independence • Individual, large and small group instruction When it is up and running smoothly, students will be engaged in the Daily Five, which are comprised of: Read to Self , Work on Writing, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading and Word Work
Morning Message • Modeling • Shared Writing • Words/Letters • Sight Word Use/Reading/Spelling • Punctuation
Shared Writing/Interactive Writing/Writing Workshop • Modeling • Predictable Charts • Writing Workshop • Whole group lesson and model • Writing work at tables with teacher/aide( Mrs. Lowery) conferencing and assisting
Calendar and Math Skills • Common Core Frameworks/ Exemplars • Counting Skills • Adding/Subtracting • Weather/Days of school • Patterning • Solving Story Problems (Language/Terms)
Snack Time/Birthdays • Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. I do not always have extra snack available. No juice please. • Feel free to donate extra snack to our class. Peanut free please! • Label snack and lunch until students can tell the difference • Birthday snacks/ cupcakes. No whole cakes please. Cupcakes may be given out during lunchtime by you or leave them in office to be given out at teacher’s discretion. • Please do NOT give cupcakes out to children not in our class due to possible unknown allergies.
Lunch/Rest Time • Our lunch time is 1:44-2:14. Feel free to join our class for lunch. Use MealplayPlus.com to load money on your child’s account or send in a CLEARLY labeled envelope or baggy. Visit Camp Creek’s Cafeteria link for lunch prices and other info! • Rest/Quiet time is after lunch for now. Later in the year we may move away from it as students get used to a full day. • Towels and pillowcases go home on Fridays to be washed. No big blankets or stuffed pets please!

Sharing Time—Show & Tell • Speaking and Listening Benchmarks • Public Speaking • Eye Contact • Big Voice • Complete Sentences • Listening behaviors as an audience member
Communication • Weekly newsletter on teacher webpage • Daily Folders-Indicate “PAW” color. Please initial. • Friday folders include weekly behavior report. Please initial and return on Mondays • Conferences will be in September 25th -26th and February 26th- 27th • Report cards each nine weeks • Phone calls to teacher returned 24-48 hours.
Camp Creek Expectations • Practice good manners • Always listen carefully • Watch your space • Show self-control
Discipline • Verbal Praise, stickers, punch cards, treasure chest, positive paws • Go For The Gold • Gold-Above and beyond behavior • Green-Good day! • Blue-Need to think about choices; may have 5 minutes time out( verbal warnings given before blue) • Orange-Poor choices-15 minutes time out/lose free time • Red-Poor choices-Lose all free time • Severe behaviors earn Action Plans/ administrator involved
Room Moms/Volunteers • Our Room Moms this year are Mrs. Ghaffari and Mrs. Kilts. They will help to coordinate class celebrations etc. Big Help opportunity—Gingerbread Houses in December! • Mystery Reader—sign up soon • Library Helper— contact Linda Houghton
