Antioch Church Monthly Newsletter Church with Mountain Moving Faith Volume 1 October, 2012 Spreading the Word to our Community Pastor District Elder W. L. Priestly Service Times Sunday School 10:30am Morning Worship 11:30am Wednesday Prayer 12:00pm Phone (512) 353-7079 Address 401 Center Street San Marcos, TX 78666 Website: www.antiochchurchtx.org Email Address: memberservices@ antiochchurchtx.org This month’s lesson plan: 'Becoming an Effective Witness for the Lord'Everyone that comes to Christ is capable of witnessing. With that being said, not everyone grasps opportunities to witness on a daily basis. It's easy to witness to other believers, but some find it very difficult to witness to unbelievers. Why is this? Is it because we are ashamed? Are we afraid of being isolated because of our belief? Are we afraid that people will look and treat us different? As believers, we must keep in mind that if we are ashamed of the Lord, that He will in judgment also be ashamed of us before His Father. Maybe some of us just don't know how to be a witness for the Lord. If this is the case, then this monthly devotion is for you.First; you need to understand that you possess the essentials for witnessing to others. You have confessed your sins and Christ has forgiven youYouhave accepted Christ into your life as your Lord and personal SaviorYou have been filled with the Precious Holy SpiritYou are spiritually equipped to be an effective witness for the Lord. And, let's not forget what Christ told His disciples; "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you" (John 14:26. As followers of Christ, we don't have to rehearse or memorize God's Word. All we are required to do is study the Word of God and in the event of witnessing to an unbeliever, we just open our mouths and let the Spirit of the Lord speak through us. Remember, that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own. So therefore if we have the Holy Spirit within us, it is It that bears witness of the Lord and we have no need to be ashamed Continued next page
Antioch Church Monthly Newsletter Church with Mountain Moving Faith Upcoming Events October Join Us Sunday School Now, let’s begin First you must ask yourself……. “Why do I need to witness?” The answer is clear. Take your life for example. Now that you have found the Lord, how did you get to where you are? Someone had to plant the seed somewhere along the way. Another watered, but then eventually you found yourself wanting something better. Something to fill the void that was in your life, your heart. That void was Jesus Christ! So, who planted the seed? Your Mother, Father, a friend, pastor or maybe even a stranger. Someone witnessed to you and that is how you came to be where you are today. Now, ask yourself, how many people do you know that don’t know the Lord? My guess, you probably know quite a few. Believe it or not, but everyone that don’t know the Lord. need the Lord, just like you needed Him and for this reason is why those following Jesus must witness. It is our duty to share the Word with every living soul in hopes of the Lord saving their soul from the pit of hell and destruction Stay tuned for more in next month’s newsletter October 13th Men’s Day October 19th Youth Day October 28th Your comments and suggestions for the Antioch Church newsletter is encouraged Please contact us with your suggestions/comments at memberservices@ antiochchurchtx.org Women’s Day Children Learn What They Live If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself
