  2. Alabama Introduction • Drought for almost 3 years • ADECA/OWR and ADEM work closely with NHD • NHD MOU signed last year (6/10/08) • Alabama’s POC is Elizabeth McCartney • NSDI Liaison is John Breckenridge

  3. NHD Issues and Challenges • Funding and staffing issues • 1 full-time staff member on NHD • Complete revision underway (continual process) • 3-5 months to finish complete revision per sub basin (8-digit HUC) • 53 Sub basins in Alabama • 13-22 years to complete

  4. NHD Web Edit Tool (NHD-WET) • Designed to operate in a web browser • Engage local (sub-stewards) stewards who will perform high resolution edits of the NHD through a web browser • Vast knowledge of their hydrologic network • Grass roots effort (maintainable) • Greater participation (local stewards) • Edits must be accepted or rejected by NHD State Steward for inclusion into geodatabase • NHDGeoEdit tool is used by State Stewards to perform QA/QC • Easy to use web interface for local stewards (sub-stewards) • NHD-WET tool is located at the State Stewardship office
