History of Formula 1 Formula 1 (in other words, the Formula 1 World Championship, mistakenly called the first formula, the official abbreviation F1) - carried out regularly (annually) since 1950 as the most prestigious series of international motor racing in the world, also known as Grand Prix racing. This sport originated in Europe, now a global one, organized in Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Asia and Australia. During the season it takes place in a total of ten races (the elimination), or the individual Grand Prix, on separate or on the street circuits specifically designed for this purpose. Formula 1 Rules are governed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), whose chairman is Jean Todt. For the financial side and the media responsible is Formula 1 Management, whose president is Bernie Ecclestone. Formula 1 is often used incorrectly. Correct terminology has become popular due to the confusion of some sports commentators. Formula 1st (first) is a series of races which have nothing in common with Formula 1
