Summary of the content of the program • Elementary statistics for library service and information management • Publishing on the web using HTML and XML • Applied network theory and citation analysis • Internet and web information searching and retrieval • Presentation of information in a scientific environment • Libraries as carrier of scientific communication • Business plan (building the library from the scratch) • Creating databases by using different software such as CDS/ISIS, ABCD, GenISIS and Greenstone • Library tours in different Flemish academic libraries

  3. Suggestions to improve the program 1. Some important learning materials should be provided in advance such as CDS/ISIS and web design materials 2. Allocation of time according to the content of the course e.g. enough time for CDS/ISIS family and website design courses.

Well coordinated program 1.1 Library tours which actualized the program 1.2 Socio-cultural activities which provide an opportunity to learn Belgian culture 1.3 Inviting various experts to share their professional experiences 2. Provision of learning facilities and materials 2.1 New laptops with wireless internet connected and fair price 2.2 Calculator and other learning materials

  5. Best components of academic contents 1. Software packages for library databases 1.1 CDS/ISIS family (e.g. WINISIS, ABCD) 1.2 Building digital library by using Greenstone 2. Elementary statistics for library service and information management 2.1 Improvement and development of policy 2.2 Decision making 2.3 Develop action plan

  7. Recommendations for the management at home work place 1. Maximisation of the use of free e-resources to improve library services 2. Creation of library databases by using free open software example: CDS/ISIS family 3. Decision making by library management should be based on statistical data 3.1 Precise decision making 3.2 Appropriate action plans 4. Introducing wiki for knowledge management
