2. About it! Elephants everywhere (mostly in Africa) are being killed for their tusks. Ivory poaching has risen to a level not seen in 20 years! From 2005 to 2006,athourites seized about 24 tons of ivory for Asia. But that is only 10% of the illegal shipments, concluding the total- about 240 tons. All that ivory cost about 23,000 elephants their lives. IN 2002, a shipment in Singapore included 532 tusks, and 42,000 hankos, or chops. That seizure was the second largest shipment on record and the largest since 1989. About it! Where is this happening? Why is this happening?
