  3. Content and expected use • For each concept: • name • description • proposed reference code list • possible roles • CDCs are not: • a requisite for SDMX conformance • a dictate to statistical organisations • CDC are • a framework to promote interoperability

  4. Data Structure Definition • Describes a set of statistical data in terms of: • identifying dimensions • attributes improving data description • Example of DSD from NAWWE • CDCs are concepts almost always used in the same way in existing DSDs • examples: Frequency, time, country

  5. Metadata Structure Definition • Describes organisation of a set of metadata • Example of a MSD • CDC identifies concepts to be exchanged • Codelists • Examples: Statistical concept, scope/coverage
