  1. Are you planning for a trekking adventure in Nepal this trekking season? No doubt, you are going to have the vacation of your lifetime as Nepal is the ultimate destination for the adventure seekers. To help you planning your trip, here I have mentioned a few things about Nepal that you should understand before your actual Nepal trekking adventure. Let’s find out: Local guides & porters: Can’t afford the added expenditure? Then be prepared to carry your own luggage or backpack to the summit. Let me tell you it may be easy to for the first few meters of your trek, but as you ascend higher it will become difficult to carry loads and maintain your trekking speed at the same time. Though the areas in Everest Base Camp and Annapurna treks are pretty well-marked, but I’d advise you to hire a local guide, especially if you are a 1st time trekker.

  2. Know the Sherpa: Sherpa is a Nepali caste and they’re usually devotees of Buddhist culture and also have their own idiom that’s similar to Tibetan. One who helps hikers on a mountain is not necessarily a Sherpa, nor do all Sherpa act as helpers during a trek. Nevertheless, as sherpas are traditionally from the high altitude regions, several porters and guides are of this caste.

  3. Buddhist customs throughout the trek: A majority of Nepal treks will enter the higher Buddhist regions. Your 1st sign of getting into a Buddhist village will be the colourful prayer flags weaving in the wind on monasteries, homes and on top of the mountain passes. You’ll also witness stupas, mani walls, or long walls of prayer wheels. Must have items for a Nepal trek: First aid kit, Vitamins, Personal medications, Antibiotics for upper respiratory and stomach illness, Headlamp with extra bulb and batteries, Toilet paper, Hand sanitizer and plenty of it, down jacket, and your digital camera. Drinking water: Throughout the more renowned trekking trails you can buy bottled drinking waters. Several villages now also have purified water stations where one can fill out water bottles for $0.50 & save on the plastic. Every teahouse, lodge and shop sells bottled drinking water usually charging $1.00 per bottle. It is recommended that you bring water purifications tablets for more isolated treks.
