The Montgomery Bus Boycott • In December 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger, and she was arrested for it. • The boycott called on all African Americans in Montgomery, Alabama to not ride the bus system until the bus company changed its segregation policy. • It worked. • The boycott introduced non-violent protest to the American landscape.
