  4. Computer Applications I Course Description This course is designed to help you gain the basic computer software skills that are demanded in today’s ever changing world. Hands-on learning will be used to complete projects such as, creating letters, forms, tables, spreadsheets, and presentations. You will also define basic computer terminology, and learn proper keyboarding and formatting skills.

Computer Applications I (every other day)Periods 2, 5 and 9 - Room 102 ½ credit course for all 9th graders Topics covered: MT5 – improves keyboarding skills Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher (2010) This software will help students in other high school courses Course Syllabus (Teacher’s Web Page) All class work can be completed in class. Home use acceptable if e-mailed finished copy.

Computer Apps IHow are we graded? • The “Do now” – 5 point each • Ticket out the doors – class participation – 5 points each • Good Citizenship Grade – Student Behavior • MicroType 5 – errors count against students • Quizzes • Tests • Timed Writing (35 WPM) • Microsoft Word – screen shot grades (most of time) • Excel Assignments – screen shot grades (most of time) • PowerPoint Assignments – screen shot grades (most of time)

Advanced KeyboardingCourse Description Hands-on learningwill be used to complete projects such as: Letters Memos Announcements Tables Reports Business cards Flyers Excel worksheets PowerPoint presentation Faxed documents. Create projects in career development such as: communication skills Scenarios Ethics in business Worksheets Etiquette in the workplace, Netiquette on the Internet. It helps students understand computer applications, as well as to work in an office.

Financial ManagementPeriods 1 and 8 - Room 102 Full credit course Course available for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students The world of money management and finance This will help students navigate the financial decisions facing today and tomorrow. Students will learn what to do with their money by learning about their financial options and their responsibilities. Students will also learn the consequences of mismanaged finances. Course Syllabus (Teacher’s Web Page) The course will combine textbook, computer simulations, and Internet navigation to educate the students in the world of money management.

Advanced Computer ConceptsCourse Description Hands-on learningwill be used to complete projects such as: Using a template in word Creating a newsletter in word Working with graphics in PowerPoint Using hyperlinks in PowerPoint Using financial functions in excel Creating, sorting, and querying a table in excel Creating reports and forms in access Using advanced report techniques in access Editing photos in adobe Photoshop This is the follow-up class to Computer Applications II; a more advanced learning class.
