The general setting • Half way in a multi-year project • An important document—the full set of provisional recommendations—just became available • Provides basis for consideration of the consistency of recommendations and integrity of the system that would emerge as Rev. 1 • A large, diverse group of national accountants are gathered in Geneva

What do these elements suggest? • Structure a meeting that allows participants… • To obtain: • An overview of the Project • The “big picture” of the recommendations and how they fit together • Clarification about specific points—their own questions and those of others • To share preliminary views on consistency and the integrity of the system that would emerge as Rev. 1 • To prepare for other opportunities to comment, including on… • Recommendations made at the January-February 2006 AEG

Design of the Session • First, an overview of the SNA Update • Then, with the full set of provisional recommendations as the backdrop, … • Provide summaries of the recommendations in four areas (others in other sessions) - Non-financial assets - Units and classifications - Government-public sector - Financial • Focus on selected issues: clarify and elaborate some of recommendations that have been subject of debate
