Order Verification & Completing Orders. February 2008. There are Three Types of Order Verification. Nurse verification Clerk verification Chart check verification (usually reflects a 24 hour chart check). Verification Keys. For nurse verification, the user must hold the ORELSE key

There are Three Types of Order Verification • Nurse verification • Clerk verification • Chart check verification (usually reflects a 24 hour chart check)
Verification Keys • For nurse verification, the user must hold the ORELSE key • For clerk verification, the user must hold the OREMAS key • For Chart Review verification, the user must hold the ORELSE or OREMAS key
Verification Initials Appear in the Three Verification Columns ClerkVerification Nurse verification Chart Verification
Highlight the orders you wish to verify Holding the Ctrl key allows you to select multiple orders out of sequence Either select “Action” or right click Select “Verify” or “Chart Review” To Verify as a Nurse:
The selected orders will display in the Verify Orders dialog box You will be prompted to enter your electronic signature code Verification (continued)
The nurse’s initials now appear in the Nurse column Verification (continued)
Chart Check Verification • By selecting “Chart Review”, the nurse or clerk can verify orders in the same manner:
Chart Review • The “Chart Review” dialog box will again prompt for an electronic signature code
Clerk Verification • The clerk verification works in the same manner as the nurse verification. • The initials appear in the CLK column
Generic text orders may be marked “Complete” Highlight the order(s) Select “Complete” from the Action menu Marking Orders as Complete
The Complete Orders dialog box will display the order(s) to mark complete and prompt for an electronic signature code Marking an Order Complete, cont.
Marking an Order Complete (continued) • The order status will now change to “Complete” Order Status
Marking an Order Complete (continued) • Only Nursing/text orders may be marked complete • If a clerk attempts to mark a medication complete, the following will display:
