  2. Welcome! 1. The Goal of this Lesson For the next two weeks, we will concentrate on becoming better writers. Before we can become better writers, we must be able to recognize and correctly use grammar and mechanics of writing. To get you started on this, we will focus on a review of the English Language Conventions of: • Subject/Verb Agreement, • Punctuation, • Parallel Structure, • and Capitalization. You will view PowerPoint tutorials for each convention, and then choose to “specialize” in one convention. You will design an instructional design poster using PowerPoint or Photoshop.

  3. 2. Learning Objectives: In this unit lesson, you will: • practice and learn the grammar conventions of • Subject/Verb Agreement, • Parallel Structure, • Punctuation, and • Capitalization by viewing a PowerPoint tutorial;

  4. 2. be asked to choose (1st come, 1st serve) an area of “specialization” and then to create an electronic poster using either PowerPoint or Photoshop synthesizing your understanding of the chosen convention; 3. critique each other’s poster drafts, offer advice for improvement; 4. and create and submit a final poster for grading.

  6. 4. Step-By-Step Activities: Let’s get started. • 1. Choose one of the four conventions to “specialize” in. • 2.   7. 3. Using PowerPoint or Photoshop create an instructional poster which synthesizes the main concepts of your specialization area. Be sure to include images which enhance the educational value of your poster. You can use SnagIt! to help you create your images. When you have completed the poster, fill-out the self-assessment survey using Microsoft Word.

  8. Next Steps 5. Post a link to your poster and your self-assessment survey in the discussion area. Be sure you title the subject as "YourlastnamePoster". 6. Please offer commentary on four of the posters others have completed in the discussion area. Once you have revised your drafts, complete step 7. 7. Post your final product to the discussion area entitled, “Final Poster”.
