  1. Finale NotePad EXTRA CREDIT Welcome! In this lesson, you will learn to Download and open a music software publishing program called Finale Notepad.

  2. Get a responsible adult to help you! You should not be downloading and installing programs on a computer without adult help and supervision!

  3. Finale NotePad is FREE on the Internet! There are much better, more expensive programs similar to it that you can buy, but you don’t need to. Finale NotePad will let you open written music files that Mr. Reisetter has created and put on his website, and it will PLAY them for you!

  4. Plus, NotePad will help you write your OWN music, and it will play it for you so you can hear how it sounds!For now, you can get Extra Credit just by downloading and installing Finale NotePad at home.

  5. Get on the Internet and go to http://www.codamusic.com/

  6. The page will look something like this:

  7. Scroll down until you see the free NotePad download.

  8. Have your adult help you download and install Finale NotePad, following its instructions.Have your adult sign that you got it successfully installed and you get 5 points!

  9. Once you get Finale NotePad installed and working, go to my website at http://www2.informns.k12.mn.us/ schoolties/class/homeroom1.cfm?class=reisetters

  10. The web page looks like this:

  11. Scroll down the Resources list until you find “Mama Don’t ‘Low”.

  12. Click on it and open it. Finale NotePad should come up with it looking like this:

  13. Print it! Write your name, choir hour, and the date on it and turn it in for 5 MORE points extra credit!

  14. Now, PLAY it! Make sure your speakers are hooked up and working. NotePad has a section of its toolbars that works just like a CD player.

  15. Push “play”, and you should hear the music!!

  16. Have your adult sign that it worked, and you get 5 MORE points Extra Credit!
