1900s-1910s Features of the era: • Corsets • High neck lines • Thin waist • Long puffy sleeves • Long dress that covers up knees and ankles Fashionable Londoners in front of Harrods, 1909. The trailing skirts and broad-brimmed hats of mid-decade are giving way to narrower dresses and hats with deep crowns. Men wear top hats with formal morning dress or bowlers with lounge suits
CORSETS Corsets are very uncomfortable but ladies just would only wear them to look beautiful and shapely. They weren't aware what would happen to their bodies.
1910s-1920s Features of the era: • The stylish hat • Narrower skirts • No corsets Due to the World War 1 • Shoes were more practical • Clothes more tailored like a suit • Hemlines were shorter as fabric became more scarce.
