  2. 1900s-1910s Features of the era: • Corsets • High neck lines • Thin waist • Long puffy sleeves • Long dress that covers up knees and ankles Fashionable Londoners in front of Harrods, 1909. The trailing skirts and broad-brimmed hats of mid-decade are giving way to narrower dresses and hats with deep crowns. Men wear top hats with formal morning dress or bowlers with lounge suits

  3. CORSETS Corsets are very uncomfortable but ladies just would only wear them to look beautiful and shapely. They weren't aware what would happen to their bodies.

  4. 1910s-1920s Features of the era: • The stylish hat • Narrower skirts • No corsets Due to the World War 1 • Shoes were more practical • Clothes more tailored like a suit • Hemlines were shorter as fabric became more scarce.

  5. 1920s-1930s Features of the era: • They had more accessories • The dresses were more loose • Low waist • Lower neck lines

  6. 1930s-1940s Features of this era: • Long sleeves • Fur scarfs • Hats • Collar lines Queen Elizabeth wears long gloves with a short-sleeved dress and dramatic hat to visit the 1939 New York World's Fair

  7. 1940s-1950s Features of this era: • Little dress • Pulled in waists • No corsets • Material was scarce due to the war Elizabeth II and Minister for Repatriation Walter Cooper in Australia, 1954. The Queen's summer suit features a fitted short-sleeved jacket with a peplum and a full skirt. The Minister wears a double-breasted suit.

  8. 1950s-1960s Features of this era: • Pulled in waist • Lots of patterns [Especial flowers] • Jewels In the 1950s fashion was the most important thing for teengers. Their fashion was more built out and stylish. They started to get more hip and less like their mothers.

  9. 1960s-1970s Features of the era: • Dresses are loose • High collar lines • Some patterns • By the early 1970s, miniskirts had reached an all-time popularity. This young English woman is wearing a fringed suede miniskirt

  10. 1970s-1980s Features of the era: • Flared pants • Long skirts • Pointed collars • Disco style In 1971 hot pants and bell-bottomed trousers were popular fashion trends

  11. 1980-1990s Features of the era: • High waist • Knitted and sweatshirt material tops • Cowboy boots • Mini skirts • Bright colours • Shoulder pads

  12. 1990s-2000s Features of the era: • Baggy pants • Bright t- shirts • Vests/ Jackets • Tight dress • Bright and fluorescent colours
