  2. Look at the question and determine the key words or phrases that you would look for in the passage. Look at the answers and determine which ones can be eliminated.

  3. According to Daniel Chiras, a failed technology is one that: • Cannot reuse its own waste • Produces more waste than it uses • Produces waste that is unusable • Makes durable goods such as refrigerators A and C are redundant. D appears to contradict the question (failed technology).

  4. The main point of the passage is that: • During the first four to seven months of life, babies learn at an accelerated pace. • Organisms deprived of critical life experiences may or may not develop normal sensory performance. • The development of perceptual abilities is the result of the interaction between nature and experience. • Research concerned with physical skills and abilities adds little to our knowledge of the growth in mind. The question asks for a main point. A is a supporting detail. B is too ambiguous, and ACT tends to be more specific.
