What Are Your Life Accomplishments? • Things involving money or material possessions? • Things involving power, praise or prestige? • Things involving your soul’s eternity? • The most important accomplishments in life are exemplified in Paul (2 Timothy 4:6-8)
“I Have Fought the Good Fight” • Paul’s first accomplishment in life was to fight (and win) the good fight • The good fight is a fight against error (2 Cor. 7:5; 10:4-5) • The good fight requires armor (Eph. 6:10ff) • The good fight requires purity, endurance, discipline, and sacrifice (1 Tim. 1:18; 6:12; 2 Tim. 3-4)
“I Have Finished the Course” • Paul’s second accomplishment in life was to finish the race (course) of life • It is to be run with discipline (1 Cor. 9:23-27) • It is to be run with lawful living (2 Tim. 2:5) • It is to be run looking at Jesus (Heb. 12:1-2) • It is to be run with suffering (Rev. 6:11)
“I Have Kept the Faith” • Paul’s third accomplishment in life was to keep (remain true to, guard) “the faith” of God’s word • We must be obedient to “the faith” (Acts 6:7) and continue in “the faith” (Acts 14:22) • We must not make shipwreck of “the faith” (1 Tim. 1:19) • We must contend earnestly for “the faith” (Jude 3)
“The Crown of Righteousness” • Paul’s fourth accomplishment in life was to receive the crown of righteousness • It is given only after contending lawfully (2 Tim. 2:5) • It is given only after endurance (Jas. 1:12) • It is given and will not fade away (1 Pet. 5:4) • It is a crown of eternal life (Rev. 2:10; 3:11)
