IPGs– The Beginning • Originally created in 2002-2003 • 1st IPGs • Departmentalized by content areas • Limited integration or consistency across disciplines IPG Application
Spring 2008 IPG Revision Initiative • December 2007 • Concern • Lack of access to quality, cohesive, and aligned district curriculum that provides teachers with a more efficient / immediate method of linking to the resources, strategies, and data information necessary in their instructional planning. Initiative’s Goal • To transform the current Austin ISD Instructional Planning Guides into a database-driven web application. IPG Application

Steps in IPG Revision Initiative Development • 1st Step • Engage in focused conversations within Curriculum Department • Alignment • Structure • 2nd Step • Analyze needed data elements within each step of the IPG organization chart IPG Application
Steps in IPG Revision Initiative Development • 3rd Step involves IPG revisers • -Analyze current IPGs to determine what needs to be removed, revised, or added • Rewrite current IPGs using current Social Studies standards • Develop IPGs within the Initiative’s format IPG Application
Reviewing the Instructional Planning academic vocabulary… while familiarizing ourselves with the new input templates:

Revision Process • Using the current IPGs, revisers will take templates and complete all necessary requirements • Model lessons will be developed, drawing upon information on current IPGs, website resources, teacher submissions, textbook models, etc. • Each six weeks will be turned in by specific dates on CDs • Font to be used is Verdana, size 10 IPG Application
