SMART Interagency Communications Platform • SMART • Systems Management for Advanced Roadway Technology • Consistent with SMART SunGuideSM Mission. • Interagency • Seamless connectivity to FHP, FLOPS and Broward County EOC. • Communications • Secure, FCC regulated frequency (4.9 GHz) for Public Safety Agencies transmission of mission-critical voice, video, and data. • Will replace necessity for Nextel contract for Road Rangers. • Handsets (mobile unit) can be programmed to dial specific numbers. • Routers (in vehicles) capable of servicing other necessary electronic devices (i.e. laptops, Tablets, surveillance cameras, etc.). • Platform • As District 4 ITS infrastructure expands, so will network. • All Broward County and DOT Divisions could tap into system at “per vehicle” capital cost.

  7. REDUNDANT POWER • Combination of Permanent Generators (critical locations), portable generators (deployed at remaining devices), and UPS devices. DEDICATED MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS • Mobile Units with Wireless Routers and Tablets in state/county agency vehicles. • Coverage provided by wireless antennae at each device pole (approx. 1/2 per mile) and at named govt. buildings. “SIComP” – HOW DOES IT WORK???

  8. Continuity of Operations • Immediate availability of roadway monitoring and damage assessment via CCTVs. Seamless, uninterrupted, secure communications with FHP, EOC, and internal DOT. DISTRICT WIDE capabilities • System available now to County and DOT vehicles (outside of this proposal). • System to be expanded to remaining District 4 counties as ITS infrastructure is deployed. Redundancy • Maintains communications and information sharing with hops at 2300, 3400, FLOPS, FHP and EOCs. “SIComP” – BENEFITS to District/County

  9. Constant communications with Road Rangers, FHP, etc. affords seamless operations and incident response times. Utilization of Road Ranger handsets. Critical DMS Signs remain functioning at County Lines and key Diversion Routes off Freeways ALL CCTV cameras operational for incident verification, roadway monitoring & damage assessment, and homeland security. “SIComP” – BENEFITS to Customer

Time • Road Rangers equipped with Tablets in trucks for “real time” data entry and information exchange. • Control of power allows for minimal to zero “down time” of critical operations and Road Ranger service. • Constant communications with Road Rangers, FHP, etc. affords seamless operations and incident response times.

  12. “SIComP” -- SAFETY Seamless Operations • Constant communications with emergency response personnel, DOT offices, FLOPS, FHP and EOC even when conventional services fail (i.e. post Hurricane Wilma). • Constant CCTV coverage: • Roadway Monitoring and Incident Detection • Roadway Infrastructure Damage Assessment • Homeland Security GPS • Tablets equipped with Global Positioning so that whereabouts on network are known at all times.
