The Beautiful Rolesof the Earth’s Rotation Every thing can be beautiful for a pure heart & in a clear hand! The climate rhythm is beautiful & abundant music even if proud hands pollute our environment, destroy atoms’structure, and send the nuclear empoison into above the tropopause where there is no water available for cleaning. The “global warming” in a century seems ok for a geological process, were “nothing but” partial phase of “little ice age”, and would be drawn back to “the normal” by the negative feedbacks strong enough triggered someday. However, if we are sure that our activities matter to this warming, even half degree of warming should be big enough to cause our concern about our environment. It is feasible for each person to do something from now on for saving our environment. Saving a piece of paper is saving trees and reducing the paper-making associated pollutions. Sustaining Rotation of the Earth 1-1.Rotation associated Coriolis force does not do the work on the objects (fluids) at any time; therefore, the rotating system does not consume ones energy and keeps ones original angular momentum. Coriolis force and its work on the objects: 1-2.Rotation velocity does not change much even though bothered by abnormal mass distribution on the surface.

2.Rotation associated Coriolis force maitains a relatively orderly and steady geophysical motion and corresponding weather and climate. Coriolis force balances most of gradient force to produce geotrophic motion ( ) moving along iso-bars, keeping most fluids from moving from high to low pressure. Coriolis force associated Ekman transport ( ) makes fluids from low to high.
3.Rotation associated geotrophic motion increases the predicability of geophysical fluids as it causes geotrophic motion & waves (Kelvin,Rossiby, inertial, etc.). The curvature force & friction are small. Coriolis force and pressure gradient force are two main items in kinetic balance, which dwarf the nonlinear item. Without Coriolis force, pressure gradient force would be very small, the horizontal kinetic equation would be, The nonlinear item stands up, making the geophysical motion much more unpredicable.
4.The Earth’s rotation can muffle the Sun-Moon gravitation-induced flow & keep the geophysical fluids from heaping onto a fixed direction, for fluids of small viscidity the vertical speed of which can increase by ~29(for the Moon)to ~365(for the Sun)times if without rotation. This maybe is one of the reasons why there is no fluids on the Moon’s surface. For solids or fluids of very big viscidity, rotation does not that matter. The ratio btn themomentums in x & zdirections under the Sun’s or Moon’s attraction without andwith Earth’s rotation can be estimated as, For fluids of small viscidity, the vertical speed can increase by (~ 365 for the Sun, ~29 for the Moon) times. For solids or fluids of very big viscidity , rotation does not that matter.
