Homework Tips Purpose Designated Area Students should have a designated area for homework completion. The area should be free from distractions and media. A desk or table in a well-lit room is ideal for writing assignments. Homework is an extension of learning that has occurred in school. Research shows that homework reinforces learning and helps students retain the information. I assign no more than 30 minutes of homework each day. Homework is a review of what we have learned in the classroom.
School Supplies Supply List A supply list was provided at the beginning of the year. Thank you for ensuring that your student has all of the required materials. Throughout the school year, some supplies need to be replenished: pencils, glue sticks, and crayons. Check with your child periodically to see if they need these items.
Reading 20 Minutes Every Day Local Libraries Dorchester County Public Library 303 Gay Street Cambridge, MD 21613 Or 222 S. Main Street Hurlock, MD 21643 www.dorchesterlibrary.org Your child is given class time to do independent reading of their choice, but this needs to be supplemented with at least 20 minutes of reading time at home every day. The local public library is a great source for reading material, and your child is able to borrow materials from our classroom and media center.
