1. Association of Public Library Employees APLE wants to be responsive to its members. Contact your APLE Representative or any APLE Board member with questions, comments, suggestions or concerns. APLE’s mission statement: 1. To demonstrate leadership and provide support for the employees of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. 2. To promote employee participation within the organization. 3. To act as an advocate for the employees with the library’s Board of Trustees and Administration. APLE works for the staff through: Staff Relations Committee: Present concerns of groups or individual to administration. Employees may submit concerns via phone, interoffice mail or e-mail. All information is treated in a confidential manner. Welcoming Committee: Provides information about APLE and distributes a welcome packet to new staff members. Sunshine Committee: This committee sends flowers to APLE members in the event of the death of an immediate family member or the hospitalization of any APLE member. A small gift is sent to members to celebrate the birth or adoption of a child. For non-APLE members, a card will be sent on behalf of APLE. Finally, APLE will make a memorial contribution to the work location when a staff member dies. Tuition/conference fee reimbursement - For job-related workshops, conferences, and classes that CML does not pay the fees, APLE members can submit for reimbursement up to $50. See the APLE constitution for more details and information on this benefit. APLE Membership Dues: * Determine how strong a voice APLE and the CML staff has in our library system. * Fund the Sunshine Committee. * Publish newsletters to keep staff informed on issues concerning employees of CML. As a member of APLE, you have a voice in the organization and you are encouraged to play an active role. If you are interested in being a member of the APLE Board, Staff Relations Committee, or any other part of APLE, contact your representative or any member of the APLE Board.
